Recent Photos

The car in front of me at Taco Bell this evening had one person in it, and a total over $34.00. Amazing. I am wondering if I ordered one of everything on the menu, if it would even total that much.

This past Saturday I was lucky enough to score some sweet suite tickets to the Big 12 Championship game at the Sprint Center. My bro and I had a good time watching the Cats, even though they lost. The fully stocked bar and snacks helped things a bit as well.

Still on the job hunt.....Maybe this year my bracketology will pay off....

Jennsylvania fan

Although I have not been a big reader in the past year with all of the medical stuff, I have read about 8 books so far this calendar year, and 3 of them have been by the same author, Jen Lancaster. She is an awesome writer, and I laugh out loud reading her books.

I have read Pretty in Plaid, Bright Lights Big Ass, and Bitter is the New Black. I am waiting to get ahold of the Such a Pretty Fat book, but my library is out of stock, I am on the list when it arrives. After reading more about Jen (first name basis, now that we are friends), I saw that she has a great blog www.jennsylvania.com with some pretty funny daily posts, is coming out with a humor column in some newspapers and a new book later this spring, My Fair Lazy.

Now, with all of that being said, I am proud of myself for these reading accomplishments. I have also read The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin, Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah, The Next Thing on My List by Jill Smolinski, 29 and Holding and the Resilience Factor, The Nanny Returns which was the sequel to the Nanny Diaries and the Pretend Wife. I know I am forgetting one or two, but either way, I am confident I am due for a:

Good Day

I think yesterday constituted a pretty good day. Had two great interviews, one for a job, the other for an upcoming project. The job interview went really well and I am hopeful it will go somewhere, as it would be a perfect fit.
Then, came home to find a $50 check in the mail for me as a refund from a drs. visit. If you know me and the past year I have had, I think you would understand my surprise, excitement and confusion in receiving this check!
Went to the local grocery store, most of the items I had in my cart were on sale with my trusty shopping card.
Then came home to find the tulip bulbs I am raising in a cylinder vase are just beginning to bloom (indoors), but the ones will follow suit outside I am sure.

A Little Fun with Old Pictures

This week was retro photo week on facebook, or atleast it seemed to be, so I asked the parents to scan a few old photos for me to use.
1. Photo of my brother and I when I was about 3 years old, and he was about 7. I hope to find him a shirt like that for the next holiday.

2. Photo of Coach Jojo helping me with my helmet for Angels t-ball!

3. 7th grade basketball at East Middle School. Nice uniforms, I remember them being extremely itchy and uncomfortable. This was before I learned about the great service of waxing eyebrows!

Little Apple

This past week I went on a fun trip to the Little Apple, to visit friends, and watch the Wildcats play Texas A&M.
All in all, it was a great trip. I was able to meet my best friend Bri's new man, and he definitely passes the test. He takes out the trash, is very nice to Bri and even sets and baits mouse traps for Bri and Melissa! All of those things are very nice in my book, and so far I would say he is a keeper. Unfortunately, he does not take photos, so I could not capture him on film.

Here's hoping 2010 is much better by leaps and bounds! Some goals for the year include:
Finding a job
Traveling more
Saving some money
Keeping in better touch with friends
Staying healthy and out of hospitals and doctors offices
Reading more
Learning to knit more than just scarves
and many more...

What are some of your goals for the year?

New Career Calling-Engagement Planning and Videography

In all honesty, I used to want to be a wedding planner, but then I started watching Bridezillas with my mom a couple of years ago, worked at a floral shop in college and realized that being a wedding planner would mean giving up a lot of Saturdays if I was successful at my job...Hmmmm, might have to give that career a second thought.
However, this week I think I found my career as a videographer (with a flip) and proposal planner. My friend SG and her boyfriend, now fiance, CN have been dating for about 3 years. CN and I went to lunch a couple of weeks ago to discuss the proposal and throw around some ideas. He mentioned wanting to do it at school, and I told him he needed to do it before break so she could have ample time to get started on some planning. He took that advice. The next week was spent trading emails back and forth about proposal ideas. Finally, we found out that her second hour class was the most fun and would be the one to come to. I told SG last week that I would be coming to class today which is not out of the ordinary, I am unemployed and have some extra time. I brought donuts. SG had assignments for the kids to complete, much to our dismay, but after a little coaching from SF, one of SG's teacher friends, we were able to talk some of the 7th grade girls into whining for a few minutes of Heads Up 7 Up, a favorite game of many people our age. SG agreed and told them they could play for the last ten minutes, this was then relayed to CN via text.
During the last ten minutes of class, the game started, and SG finally agreed to play and put her head down. We motioned CN to come in the room, which he did and the rest is history and shown on the video. Thank goodness for the Flip and for CN letting be there to witness and video the event!

Another bites the dust

After seeing a mouse or something scurry across the floor recently, I set many sticky traps this afternoon and like magic, caught one this evening!!
AQ, the Roomie www.bananasaboutrunning.blogspot.com did the honors of picking up the mouse on the sticky trap and disposing of he/she outside. Gracie, the dog, is not really a mouser, in fact she kept her distance from all of this action.
Here is hoping to catch the rest of the family with all of the glue traps set around. Last year when we had a mouse problem, glue traps were all that worked as well. Does anyone have a more "humane" way of catching these little rodents?

Everybody is doing it....

Even Mrs. Duggar had to have her gallbladder removed!!

Now that I am the road to recovery from my health problems, I may just have to blog about some of my experiences in hospitals, doctors office, etc over the past 10 months.  We will see...
